Vapour Blasting / Aqua Blasting

Vapour blasting is a cleaning process also known as Aqua/Wet blasting that uses water and an abrasive medium which is accelerated from a nozzle via a pump and compressed air. The glass beads are mixed with water to form a sludge which is then blasted at the object being cleaned. Due to the process using water it acts as a buffer which causes no damage to the surface and leaves a fine satin finish unlike the dry processes which are more aggressive to the objects surface.

The vapour blasting process is suitable for all non ferrous metals (aluminium, Bronze, Magnesium, Titanium, Brass, Stainless Steel, Copper etc) and should not be used on any metal item that rusts.

With the blasting process being so passive any grease, paints and other coatings need to be removed before the any work using this process can begin.

With using the fine glass beads when cleaning components they will penetrate into bearings, valves and nozzles and we recommend items are stripped prior to blasting to ensure that it can be cleaned thoroughly to remove all the glass beads after the cleaning process. We will undertake cleaning of components with bearings, valves and nozzles in place but it will remain the responsibility of the customer to ensure the items are free from glass beads prior to assembly.

The pricing on the other page is based upon an average sized component and varies depending on sizes of components and is based on the item being stripped of any paint and degreased ready to be cleaned. Should you require the item to have paint removed or degreased we can undertake this work for a small additional charge.

We only use top grade high performance media in our vapour blasting machine of which is changed at regular intervals to ensure the best quality of cleaning time after time and is tested prior to commencement of work on the customer’s component.
